Hazem Elzarka, PhD, PE, LEED AP
Dr. Hazem Elzarka is a Professor and former Chair of the Construction program at the College of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Cincinnati, USA.  He also taught at the Burns School of Real Estate and Construction Management, College of Business, University of Denver. He is a registered professional engineer (PE) in the State of Ohio, a LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP), a Certified Energy Manager (CEM), a Certified Carbon Reduction Manager (CRM), a Certified Measurement and Verification Professional (CMVP) and a certified Green Building Engineer (GBE). He has consulted for federal and state agencies and major US and international construction firms.  His consulting/research work is in the areas of Infrastructure asset management, Green Buildings, applications of advanced computer technologies in the construction industry, and Total Quality Management.  His work related to asset management focused on roadway drainage structures, pavement management systems and bridge management systems.  His work related to Green Buildings has focused on construction waste management, commissioning, energy conservation, and renewable energy and LEED education.   His work related to the applications of advanced technologies in the construction industry has focused on integrated design and management systems, computer-aided design, knowledge based systems, relational databases, and object-oriented methodologies. He has more than 50 publications in refereed journals and conference proceedings sponsored by the American Society of Civil Engineers, The American Institute of Constructors, the Associated Schools of Construction and the Construction Industry Institute. He has recently served as the principal investigator of several research projects for the Ohio Department of Transportation (more than 1.2 Million US Dollars since 2012) related to smart infrastructure asset management.

The speech title: Application and potential adoption of BIG DATA in the construction industrty

Gouranga Banik, Ph.D., P.E., PMP., F.ASCE, is currently serving as professor of construction engineering and management for the school of civil and environmental engineering at Oklahoma State University. Prior to this, Dr. Banik served as division head at Oklahoma State University, and departmental chair and professor for civil and architectural engineering at Tennessee State University. He is a registered professional engineer (PE) in the state of Wisconsin and a project management professional (PMP). Dr. Banik has consulted for federal and several state agencies, and major national and international construction and design companies including the World Bank. His research and consuting work is in the area of construction safety, big data, internet of things, sustainable construction and AEC education.  Dr. Banik has more than 50 articles in the refereed journals and conference proceedings in the area of civil engineering and construction management. He has presented his research in several well-known and peer-reviewed conferences, such as ASEE, ASCE, ASC, WEFTEC and CIB, all over the world, including the United States, Japan, Canada, Greece, Italy, Brazil, and the Philippines.
